If you want a Samsung Galaxy Round, the first curved phone, then turn round: it’s only a prototype and won’t be around for long.
The Round is now on sale in Samsung’s home country of South Korea, but according to SamMobile it will only be produced in limited numbers. It’s a proof-of-concept of the curved screen, which will presumably find its way into future phones.
The Round is the first phone with a curved screen. Although it’s been described as a flexible display, that’s a misnomer — it’s actually a flexed rather than flexible screen, with a curve across the width of the phone.
The concave design means that when sat flat on a table, the Round will rock towards you at the touch of a fingertip, activating the screen as it does so. Thank the lord — someone’s finally ended the palaver of picking up your phone and unlocking it to see who’s tagged you on Facebook.
A slightly different take on the curved screen is the LG G Flex, which bends the other way, like a banana.
