Samsung Galaxy Note on sale 3 November

Make a note in your diary: the Samsung Galaxy Note hits shops on 3 November. The over-sized Android smart phone is arriving next week, nearly two weeks earlier than expected, along with a bunch of new apps for its S Pen stylus.

The Note packs a 5.3-inch high-definition Super AMOLED display. Is it a giant phone or a small tablet? You’ll be able to decide for yourself in less than a week.

The original release date was 17 November, but Samsung has decided to bring that forward, perhaps to avoid a clash with the Galaxy Nexus. The Nexus is the first phone to feature the new Ice Cream Sandwich software, and arrives on 17 November.

The Note comes with a stylus — what is this, the 90s? — called the S Pen. It’s a bit more advanced than your average stylus, as it detects how hard you’re pressing on the screen.

Apps include Soonr, OmniSketch, Zen Brush, ComicBook, and iAnnotate PDF, which allow you to draw on the screen or write notes. You can also do stuff like draw round a picture and crop it out.

The Note packs a powerful 1.4GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera and a 2,500mAh battery. It comes in 16GB and 32GB flavours.

The Samsung Galaxy Note hits shops on Thursday, and starts at around £600. Will you be buying? Leave us a note in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
