It may have been a bit overlooked, with some recent announcements, but Samsung’s phone-cum-tablet is a pretty decent device. And now it’s come to O2, less than a week after the network announced it would, reports Engadget. Well you can’t accuse it of not putting its money where its mouth is.
Previously the 5.3-incher was available on Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile, and Talk Mobile. So good news if you’re on O2 and fancy an upgrade to a bigger handset.
On pay monthly deals, for 18 or 24 months, the Note is available from free to £250 (or, yes, 250 notes, if you like). Then the monthly bill will set you back between £13.50 and £72.
Standing midway between a handset and a tablet, the Galaxy Note is certainly a strange beast. It ships complete with a stylus for doodling and, yes, making notes, yet is too small to really qualify as a proper tablet.
It packs some heavyweight specs though. Inside is a 1.4GHz processor, 16GB storage, and it runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). In our review we found it a pretty powerful device, with a gorgeous display, though good luck fitting it in your pocket. And if you intend to make a lot of calls, be prepared to be referred to as Trigger-Happy TV for quite some time.
The massive screen also puts quite a drain on the battery. But it’s thin and light considering its size. So if you’re prepared to take a step up in terms of size, without going for a fully-fledged tablet, it could well be worth a look.
