Samsung Galaxy Note 3 unveiled on 4 September

Make a Note in your calendar: the new Samsung Galaxy Note will be unveiled on 4 September.

Invitations have been sent to press for an announcement on that date, the tagline ‘Note the date’ giving a clanging clue as to what we can expect.

Like the two previous generations of Note phablets, the Note 3 will be unveiled at annual technology trade show IFA in Berlin, this time at a special event entitled Samsung Unpacked 2013 Episode 2 — Episode 1 being the event earlier this year where the Samsung Galaxy S4 was announced.

Somewhere between a phone and tablet, the original Note was the first phablet. The Note 3 is expected to have a 5.7-inch 1080p screen and trademark S Pen stylus.

While the Note 3 is almost certainly ready to be revealed this month, word on the street suggests it could be joined by a smart watch that runs Android and talks to your phone. Rumoured to be called Samsung Gear, the smart watch would be Samsung’s first foray into wrist-worn wearable technology since the smart watch buzz began when Apple was reported to be readying an iWatch.

Whatever Samsung has in store, we’ll be there in force to bring you all the first news, previews and videos — so keep it CNET for all the note-worthy new products from IFA.
