The Samsung Galaxy Mega is going to be mega in July, according to one online shop — and the giant-sized 6.3-inch Android device will cost £460.
That’s the price for the 16GB model to be sold by online retailer Clove. We originally heard the Mega was coming this month, but with no official word from Samsung, Clove’s proposed date is all we have to go on.
Quite why we need the 6-inch Mega when we have the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2 is anybody’s guess, but hey ho. The Mega boasts a high-definition screen with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor underneath it, and 4G powers to connect to the Internet faster when you’re on the go. If it does launch in July, it shouldn’t be far off the arrival of new 4G services from major networks including Vodafone and O2.
Running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the Mega borrows a number of new features from the Galaxy S4, including Group Play and real-time lingo-decoder S Translate.
Clove says it’ll sell the Mega in black and white flavours. Now, the good folks at Clove are often first to say they’ll sell a new phone, having clearly realised the attention to be garnered by doing so. Hey, I’m talking about them right now! Those crafty Clovers. So that price and release date is still open to confirmation. Samsung isn’t saying anything official yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
Incidentally, there’s also a 5.8-inch version of the Mega, but that isn’t coming to these shores. Which is just as well, because its screen is woeful, boasting resolution barely higher than the very first iPhone.
