According to a couple European Web sites, Apple’s white iPhone 4, the last year’s unicorn consumer electronic product, finally has a date associated with its release. If you have been patiently waiting for a white iPhone 4, mark April 27 (a Wednesday) on your calendar.
You may also want to consider getting your trusty “wait in line for Apple products” kit up to snuff. Though no official date for release has been announced by Apple, once there is, lines could definitely be forming.
According to a report from MacRumors, Dutch site iPhoneclub.nl writes (via Google translation):
We received this information through an anonymous tip from someone who works [at] BelCompany. Then we started looking for other people who BelCompany works [with] that could confirm the information. That was the case: they indicate that an internal memo was circulated, indicating the date of April 27 for the white iPhone called April.”
That backs up several reports from the likes of Bloomberg, which reported the white iPhone 4 would be available “by the end of April,” and Norwegian site Mobili.no, which reported (via Google translation):
Several reliable sources who wish to remain anonymous, says now Mobili.no that the white version goes on sale in the Norwegian mobile shops this coming Wednesday, 27 April.
A white iPhone 4 has also been reported to have shown up at a Vodaphone store in the U.K., having been accidentally sold before stock was pulled off the floor.
News of a white iPhone 4 being released next week strengthens continued theorizing that Apple is unlikely to release an iPhone 5 this summer. Instead, you can bet on an iPhone announcement in September (when Apple generally unveils its latest iPod updates) with hardware arriving in January (when Apple will be ready to revive a yearly update schedule with Verizon and AT&T iPhones being released simultaneously).
Will you be exorcising your white iPhone 4 lust, or waiting for iPhone 5? Let me know in the comments!
