LG G3 Vigor becomes Canada’s debut VoLTE smartphone

The LG G3 Vigor isn’t just any midrange LG Android handset. It’s Canada’s first-ever to support VoLTE, or voice-over-LTE, a technology that uses the same network to make voice (and video) calls on the same network that also transfers data.

Canadian wireless provider Rogers announced on Tuesday that it started selling the G3 Vigor today. Offered free with select two-year service agreements, the smartphone is somewhat of a sportier version of the flagship G3 .

It’s powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop and features a 5.0-inch 720p display and an 8-megapixel rear camera that uses laser beams to focus. Internal hardware includes a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of storage and a 2,540mAh battery.

Like other recent LG smartphones, the G3 Vigor is loaded with custom software touches to enhance the user experience. Present here are Knock Code, Gesture Shutter, QuickMemo and QSlide Function.

Rogers customers who aren’t keen on a contract can pick up the LG G3

Vigor for $299 outright.
