Translator, currency converter, alarm setter… it seems there’s no limit to Siri’s abilities. But here’s one we didn’t know about: comedian.
Apple’s first demo showed if you asked Siri what it was, it’d reply it was a “humble personal assistant.” Well now a video has surfaced online of one lucky iPhone 4S owner experimenting by asking Siri some slightly unusual questions.
The video was uploaded by a YouTube user called applemastertouch — you can see it here, reported by Boy Genius Reports. It’s a nine minute demo of the iPhone 4S, but obviously Siri, being the standout feature of the device, is the focus. (We’re not sure where that weird techno music on the video came from, it seemed to appear the second time we played it through, but you can still see the voice commands appear on screen.)
Ask Siri “Can we be friends,” and it replies, “I’m very fond of you.” Tell it you love it, and it replies, “I hope you don’t say that to all the other phones.” OK, so it’s not exactly going to rival Michael McIntyre, but we’re pretty impressed considering it’s a phone.
So it seems Apple has programmed in a host of retorts to unusual questions. Rest assured as soon as we get our hands on one we’ll be trying out everything we can think of.
The iPhone 4S launches on Friday, with already over a million pre-orders taken. As well as Siri to help with your every whim, it features an 8-megapixel camera, and the same A5 processor as the iPad 2. Excited? We can’t wait.
