Orange Boston leaked: Android smart phone is more than a feeling

We had an inkling Orange would be working on an own-brand Android smart phone after we recently saw Vodafone’s 845 handset. Now a photo of the Orange Boston has emerged, proving that our notion was more than a feeling.

The Boston will, like the HTC Legend, pack an 81mm (3.2-inch) touchscreen with a 320×480-pixel resolution, and a 600MHz Qualcomm processor, according to EuroDroid. It will also offer a 5-megapixel camera, and support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. A microSD card will take care of storage.

Alas, it seems the Boston, built by Chinese manufacturer Foxconn, will only run Android 1.6, rather than the shiny new 2.1 version. Cheer yourself up by watching hirsute ’70s balladeers Boston rock the heck out in the video below.

We’re waiting to hear back from Orange about pricing details and a release date, but we don’t expect the acquisition of the Boston will necessitate taking out another mortgage.
