Odin Mobile rejiggers Nexus 4 for blind users

Odin Mobile added LG’s Nexus 4 smartphone to its lineup, the company announced on Monday.

The Android smartphone is the most feature rich handset that the newcomer carrier stocks for its customers, who are blind or have limited vision.

Preloaded with Android 4.4 KitKat, Odin Mobile’s version of the Nexus 4 comes with a home screen widget that will help install up to eight featured apps intended for blind users, including Google’s talking dialer and Braille helper tool, a currency identifier, and a walkie-talkie app.

In addition, the carrier will pair an expert, who is also blind, to help newcomers learn the phone’s accessibility features over the phone.

Odin Mobile’s Nexus costs $329 without a contract, and features a 4.7-inch LCD display, a Qualcomm S4 Pro chipset, an 8-megapixel camera, and 16GB of internal storage. It rides on T-Mobile’s network.
