Nokia is expected to show off its new flagship smart phone, the E7, next week. The company has also confirmed a release date of 30 September for the N8, its first Symbian 3 phone, hiring Pamela Anderson to front its campaign.
According to Reuters, the E7 is likely to make an appearance at the annual Nokia World event, which starts on 14 September. Its arrival comes as a surprise, unlike that of the N8, which seems to have been leaked for an age.
The NokNok blog, which is sponsored by Nokia, gave a hint last week that some of the pics and videos purported to be of the MeeGo-running N9 actually show the E7. Although the N9 does exist, it looks like we’ll get the E7 much sooner.
The E7 looks set to pack a 102mm (4-inch), AMOLED touchscreen, a Qwerty keyboard, and an 8-megapixel camera. It’ll also run the new Symbian 3 operating system.
The N8 is also expected to appear at Nokia World. Nokia’s senior communications manager, Tapani Kaskinen, confirmed with a Finnish newspaper that the N8 will be released on 30 September.
Nokia is hiring former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson to help promote the N8. The company is offering people the chance to appear in a short film with the actress (not that kind of film, you filthy beast) that will be recorded entirely on the N8. There are more details on a dedicated Nokia website.
