Nokia has teased its newest gadget ahead of next week, when the Finnish firm has a bash planned to show off the mystery mobile.
The clip of the cryptically concealed mobile appeared on Channel 4, during a break in The Inbetweeners Movie.
There’s little to glean from the chic teaser, though the new device looks to be — predictably enough — a smart phone, with a heavy focus on the device’s camera tech.
The shot above shows a flash and slightly bulging camera unit. Rumours have been swirling for some time that Nokia could be about to reveal an ‘EOS’ Lumia that has the 41-megapixel tech we first saw on last year’s 808 PureView.
That mobile had a massive camera unit to accommodate the high-tech hardware — could the device teased above feature a similarly impressive snapper? Or is it just not bulgy enough to be harbouring anything too special?
Last week Nokia took the wrapper off the Lumia 928, a smaller version of the Lumia 920 that’s currently only available in the US. Tuesday’s reveal could be as simple as a version of the 928 for the UK, or something more exotic.
We’ll likely get our answer on Tuesday morning, when Nokia is throwing a bash in London to unveil its new tech. CNET will be on hand to bring you as-it-happens news and video, so keep your eyes peeled to this page from 9:45am on Tuesday.
Nokia has plenty to prove, with boss Stephen Elop reportedly coming under fire from investors. Stakeholders are likely annoyed by the lack of traction the Lumia line is gaining, and Nokia’s tiny market share when compared to rivals Apple and Samsung.
Nokia flogged 5.6 million Lumia devices in the first three months of this year, so there’s some evidence that momentum for the multi-coloured mobiles could be growing.
