Nokia promises ‘something BIG’ in orange teaser

“Something BIG” is coming from Nokia. The Finnish phone firm is teasing us with a splash of orange, but we can only speculate what it’s all about.

Nokia says all will be unpeeled at 9am tomorrow morning, 23 July. The teaser is accompanied by a Nokia logo on an background the colour of an extra from The Only Way is Essex, bearing the mysterious filename ‘orange.jpg.’

What will tumble forth when Nokia shakes the tree? Could it be the rumoured 4.7-inch Nokia Lumia 625, tipped to be Nokia’s biggest Windows Phone yet? Could it be the fabled Nokia Windows 8 tablet? Could it be a sign that somewhere a Mafioso is about to get a concrete overcoat? Or could it be a deal with phone network Orange — perhaps something to do with the recently-released Nokia Lumia 925 or the 41-megapixel Nokia Lumia 1020?

For answers, I turned to CNET’s own mobile phone expert and citric connoisseur Andrew Hoyle, who’s spoken to his sources and can confirm “It’s the Nokia Lumia Orange: a 5-inch citrus fruit that splits into segments, each one representing a different social network. It also provides one of your five fruit and veg a day, but I’m not sure exactly how.”

So that’s sorted then. We’ll bring you all the news you need to know at 9am, so keep it CNET.

What do you think the orange Nokia is all about? Is Nokia’s partnership with Windows Phone about to bear fruit? Can Nokia finally upset the Apple cart? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our always-fruity Facebook page.
