Nokia Lumia X is a new twist on Windows Phone 8

The story of Nokia and Windows Phone takes another twist. At least, the Nokia Lumia X concept design features a cool twisty camera — but whether it’s real or not is another matter.

The Lumia X concept phone boasts a high-definition AMOLED display screen, a Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera.

The software on the phone is Windows Phone 8, the next generation of Microsoft’s software for mobile phones. Windows Phone 8 is expected to arrive in November, bringing a new customisable home screen.

Concept Phones quotes a source called Johnny who swears blind this is a real phone direct from Nokia’s design lab, which will launch in September. It’s possible ol’ Johnny is bang on the money, but I’d be surprised if Nokia moves away from the sleek unibody aesthetic of the current Lumia line-up for such a gimmicky design.

That said, Nokia is yet to unveil the first Windows Phone with PureView technology, and it would be very cool if that was housed in a twisty design, reminiscent of ancient Nokias such as the N93.

PureView is Nokia’s crazy camera technology, first seen on the Nokia 808 PureView. The 808 boasts a bonkers 41-megapixel camera and assorted photo options that are set to trickle down to the Lumia range at some stage.

Several manufacturers are in line to build Windows Phones, with leaks suggesting HTC will lead the way with the HTC Zenith, Accord and Rio phones.
