No key, uh? The Nokia Treasure Tag helps you find your keys by whipping out your phone and telling you where the high-tech keyring is.
The Tag attaches to your keys — or wallet, or hip flask, or whatever you care to hitch it to. It’s always on and the battery is designed to last for around six months.
The Treasure Tag then talks to your Lumia Windows Phone phone via Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. There’s a Windows Phone app on your phone that displays the location of the Tag on a map, or you can switch to Nokia’s Livesight augmented reality view and hold your phone up to see directions on the screen pointing the way to go to reclaim your property .
You can also pull the old switcheroo and use the Treasure Tag to find your phone: press a button on the tag and your misplaced phone will beep — as long as it’s within range and hasn’t been left behind or whisked away by wrong’uns.
The Verge reports that the Treasure Tag will help start finding your misplaced stuff when the Windows Phone Amber update arrives in coming weeks.
Is this the sort of good idea that could help Nokia make a success of Windows Phone, or just a daft frippery? What other accessories would you like to see talking to your phone? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.
