Nokia Lumia 610 out in the UK in June for £15 per month

The wallet-friendly Nokia Lumia 610 will be out in the UK in early June, the Finnish phone-maker has confirmed.

If you want to pick up this budget slice of Windows Phone, expect to find it lurking in UK shops in the first week of June, available to snap up on a £15 per month contract.

The Lumia 610 is Nokia’s cheapest Windows Phone device, occupying the lower end of the cost spectrum under the Lumia 710, fancier Lumia 800 and larger-than-life Lumia 900.

We’ve already gone hands-on ahead of the 610’s proper launch, with my esteemed colleague Natasha’s first impressions being that those seeking a really simple smart phone would do well to examine this diminutive smart phone.

Nokia Lumia 610 hands-on

1:14

The Lumia 610 has a 3.7-inch screen, with a respectable 480×800-pixel resolution. There’s not a lot of grunt under the hood, but the Windows Phone operating system has a minimal feel to it, so you might not notice the low-powered processor as keenly as you would on a cheaper Android phone.

You get some free Nokia apps, such as Nokia Transport, a natty app for finding directions, and streaming music goodies, but the real benefit of rocking this mobile will be the slick Windows Phone operating system.

Windows Phone doesn’t have the same wealth of apps as Android or iOS, but its tiled homescreen and swooping menus make it a pleasure to use. When it comes time for the full review we’ll be checking build quality, performance, and how decent the 5-megapixel camera proves to be.

Are you sweet on the Lumia 610? Let me know in the comments or on our Facebook wall.
