Waiting for that Nokia Lumia 1520 you preordered? You might have to wait a bit longer than expected.
AT&T and Microsoft are informing eager buyers via e-mail that the 1520 won’t arrive as originally scheduled, according to Windows Phone Central. The e-mail reads as follows:
Because of overwhelming demand, your Nokia Lumia 1520 order is delayed in shipping. As soon as your shipping label is printed, we’ll send you an e-mail with the tracking information. You can also track your order on our site.
A spokesman for AT&T confirmed the delay to CNET via the following statement:
As a result of the stronger-than-expected demand of the yellow version of the Nokia Lumia 1520 and the delays in receiving that color from the manufacturer, we now expect consumers to receive their orders on or before November 27. We apologize for the inconvenience and are doing everything we can to ship orders as fast as possible.
AT&T launched preorders for the Lumia 1520 on November 8, initially promising a ship date of November 19 with arrival on November 21.
A Microsoft spokesperson also confirmed the delay on its end in an e-mail sent to CNET:
We are aware that a limited number of our customers are experiencing delays in receiving shipment of Nokia Lumia 1520 Windows Phones that were purchased on the Microsoft Online Store. Our priority is to ensure that every customer who ordered a new Lumia 1520 gets it as quickly as possible. Customers will be notified via e-mail as soon as their order has shipped. We are providing a $25 gift card for future use in the Microsoft Store for all customers who are impacted. If you have questions about your order or would like an update, give us a call at 1-877-696-7786.
The 1520 officially landed at AT&T on Friday, selling for $100 with the usual two-year contract. People who ordered the yellow version on Friday should receive it on or before November 27, according to AT&T.
