Nokia Lumia 1520 is £550 SIM

Nokia’s colossal new Windows Phablet, the 6-inch monster that is the Lumia 1520, hits the UK next week for £550 SIM-free.

That’s the price quoted by online retailer Unlocked-Mobiles.com, which is the first in the UK with an unlocked deal on the massive new blower. Other retailers are likely to start stocking the 1520 in the next week, and may undercut that hefty price tag.

Carphone Warehouse started offering preorders for the new larger Lumia last week, but only on Vodafone contracts starting at £38 per month. 4G deals — for this new phone can take advantage of superfast data — are even steeper, starting at £48 per month with a free phone.

It’ll also be available from O2 and Phones 4U.

But is it worth shelling out for? Andy reviewed it last week and loved its glorious great Full HD screen, cheery design and powerful quad-core processor. Obviously it’s gigantic, and that’s a matter of personal taste, but the more serious flaw is Windows Phone’s app store, which while better than ever still lags Android and iPhone for the latest apps and games.

Here’s his hands-on video review for lots more:
