Nokia gets Sirius with rumoured Windows tablet

Why so Sirius? More details are emerging of the rumoured Nokia Windows 8 tablet, codenamed Sirius.

The Nokia Sirius is tipped to be a 10.1-inch slate running Microsoft’s latest Windows 8 software. It’s expected to pack a quad-core Qualcomm 8974 processor with 2GB of RAM under a high definition 1080p screen.

WinSuperSite reports that the 4G Sirius slate, pictured above right, will be 0.35 inches thick and will weigh 1.3 pounds.

It’s also reported to boast a 6.7-megapixel camera. The price is expected to be around $500 in the US, which works out at about three hundred quid — that’s not including VAT though.

Microsoft and Nokia have been in bed together for a while, but are taking the relationship to the next level with Microsoft buying Nokia’s smart phone business for £4.6bn.

Next up for Nokia is the 41-megapixel Nokia Lumia 1020, which goes on sale on 25 September.

New versions of Microsoft’s own Surface tablet are also reported to be in the works, including a new Microsoft Surface Pro and a purported smaller Surface Mini. Lenovo, Dell, Acer, Asus and Toshiba also have Windows 8 tablets in the pipeline.
