Nokia EOS tipped for 41

The hotly tipped Nokia EOS could take us to the next generation of camera phone as soon as 9 July, if a rumoured release date is to be believed — and it’s set to boast a giant 41-megapixel sensor too.

Inspired by the 41-megapixel Nokia 808 PureView, the EOS is rumoured to arrive in the second week of July, with 9 July the likely date according to Mobile Geeks.

According to previous leaks, the Nokia EOS takes the head-spinningly high-resolution camera technology from the 808 PureView and squeezes it down into a less unwieldy casing, perhaps even as thin as the recent Nokia Lumia 920 at the tapered edges.

Mobile Geeks quotes a source who claims the EOS will share the 41-megapixel sensor in the 808, but like the 808 photos will top out at a still-eye-watering 34 megapixels.

A previous leak suggests the EOS will boast a 4.5-inch screen, with 1,280×768-pixel resolution. A new camera app, called ‘Nokia Pro Camera’, is set to be included with EOS, with a completely new interface that lets you take charge of advanced features such as manual focus.

It’s also expected to shoot 1080p and 720p high definition video.

Nokia recently revealed the Lumia 925, a British version of the Lumia 928. Both boast PureView features, but with 8.7-megapixel cameras.
