Nexus 7 leaked photo may reveal more details on new tablet

The next edition of Google’s Nexus 7 tablet will outdo the current model with a speedier processor and two cameras, at least according to a photo served up by Engadget.

An image showing alleged product details for the much-rumored new Nexus 7 spills more than a few beans. Manufactured by Asus, the 7-inch tablet will reportedly come with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the next flavor of Android still not yet officially announced. A quad-core 1.5GHz processor will fuel the new Nexus, which will sport two cameras — a 5-megapixel shooter in back and a 1.2-megapixel one in the front.

Also on the feature list are wireless charging and a Slim port that will let users connect the Nexus to a TV to play 1080p HD video.

In contrast, the current Nexus 7 comes with Android 4.2, a 1.3GHz processor, and just a single camera in front.

The product info image was tipped to Engadget, so its veracity can’t be confirmed. But at least one of the specs matches up with a tidbit uncovered by Android Central on Wednesday, namely the dual 5MP and 1.2MP cameras. Other features leaked by Android Central’s source include a Qualcomm APQ8064 motherboard, a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 4 gigabytes of RAM, and stereo speakers.

We should find out if these reports are true on July 24. That’s when Google will host a breakfast event where it’s expected to announce the latest version of Android and new editions of its Nexus tablets.
