Stone the crows: the Google Nexus 4 is still on sale! It looks like Google and LG have finally sorted the stock problems that have plagued the bargain-tastic Android phone since day one.
The Nexus 4 has been on sale from online store Google Play for a mere matter of hours since it launched in November, selling out almost instantly on the first day and on the other brief occasions it returned to sale. But having returned to Google Play yesterday the phone is still on sale today — perhaps the longest uninterrupted period in stock — and what’s more the delivery date is holding steady at 1-2 weeks.
Incidentally, we’re sure the fact that the Nexus 4 returned to Google Play at the exact same time as BlackBerry 10 was announced is complete coincidence.
LG, which builds the Nexus 4, and Google, which created the software, blame each other for the recent stock shortages. Google says LG’s supply has been erratic, but LG says it’s just made as many as Google asked for, and claims the big G disastrously underestimated the demand.
After all, how could Google possibly foresee that a high-end
quad-core smart phone with the latest Jelly Bean software for £240 would be phenomenally popular. You’d have to be some kind of psychic!
The 8GB Nexus 4 costs £240 and the 16Gb model costs £280. You can buy two of each at a time.
