If you love the Samsung Galaxy S2 but really can’t abide phones in such a dark colour, today is your lucky day — the S2 is now available with a dazzling white coat of paint!
There won’t be any change to the hardware of the phone itself; it’s still running a dual-core 1.2GHz processor which makes swiping through those screens and widgets on Android 2.3 Gingerbread a breeze.
As an Android phone, you’ll of course get full access to the hundreds of thousands of apps on the Android Market, all of which should be displayed very nicely on the 4.3-inch super AMOLED Plus screen. In our massive review, we noted the incredible brightness of the screen which makes it great for use in direct sunlight, although it does have the effect of making some colours seem oversaturated.
Around the back you’ll still find the same 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash, which we found took decent snaps and had some handy scene modes so you don’t need to mess around with too many settings. It also shoots 1080p video — handy if you need to capture your friend’s biking injury in amazing clarity.
It’s taken Samsung rather a long time to get the white version of its flagship smart phone on sale — perhaps it had the same paint issues Apple had that gave us the eternal wait for the white iPhone 4.
Whatever the reason for the delay, it’s on sale from today and is available through Three, O2 and Orange.
