Update brings Wi

T-Mobile has started rolling out a software update for the T-Mobile G2 that brings Wi-Fi calling to the Android smartphone, along with several other enhancements.

With Wi-Fi calling, you’ll be able to make calls over a Wi-Fi network, and though there’s no additional cost for this feature, minutes will be deducted from your regular voice plan. T-Mobile announced in early October that it would offer Wi-Fi calling on a select number of its Android phones, such as the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G, Motorola Defy, and now the G2.

Other features of the update include a fix for spontaneous power off/system freeze issues, improved data connection reliability, and optimization of radio recovery.

G2 owners will receive a notification when the update is available, which they can download immediately or at a later time by going to Menu > Settings > About phone > System updates.
