Everyone loves a great deal and Nokia and T-Mobile are offering one heck of a value with the upcoming Nokia 5230 Nuron.
Due to arrive at T-Mobile in the coming weeks, the Nuron is a 3G touch-screen smartphone that will sell for just $69.99 with a two-year contract. For that price, you’re also getting free turn-by-turn, voice-guided navigation since the device ships with Ovi Maps. The app includes maps for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico and offers pedestrian mode, weather forecasts, and Lonely Planet guides, among other things. There is no monthly subscription required to get this content; it’s all included in the price of the phone.
In addition, the Nuron will be the first smartphone from a U.S. carrier to come preloaded with the Ovi Store, and T-Mobile will simplify the process of purchasing apps from the store by allowing you to bill purchases to your monthly statement or via credit card.
The rest of the handset’s features is pretty much on par with other smartphones, though it looks like Wi-Fi was left out of the party. The Symbian S60 5th Edition-based Nuron does have Bluetooth 2.0 (with A2DP support), a 2-megapixel camera, a multimedia player, e-mail and IM capabilities, and a full HTML browser with Flash Lite 3.0 support.
