Those enticed by the prospect of owning a massive mobile but not willing to splash buckets of cash may be keen on Sony’s latest effort — the Xperia T3, which boasts a whopping 5.3-inch display, but also features hardware that hopefully won’t break the bank.
In terms of its look, the T3 doesn’t stray far from the likes of Sony’s flagship Xperia Z2. A squarish stance and a steel frame are the order of the day here, but Sony says we can expect a matte coating on the back of the phone. At 7mm thin, the T3 is very skinny indeed.
On the inside, you get a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, and Android 4.4 KitKat, while the back of the phone plays host to an 8-megapixel camera. The display has a 1,280×720 pixel resolution, which isn’t quite as sharp as the screens on pricier rivals.
One bit of bad news is that Sony doesn’t mention the T3 being water resistant, which is one of the most appealing traits of the company’s more luxurious mobiles.
On its press page, Sony says the T3 will launch globally “from the end of July,” but there’s no word yet on specific dates or countries. Are you tempted? Let me know in the comments.
