Five months since it made its initial debut, the Motorola Droid Bionic has yet to arrive on Verizon’s doorstep. The last we heard, Motorola had decided to delay the smartphone in order to enhance the handset with several changes, but we’ve heard very little about what those changes might be–until now.
Based on the first leaked images hitting the Web this week, one such change involves adding support for Motorola’s laptop dock. This feature was one of the compelling reasons to pick up the Atrix 4G from AT&T, and helped the Atrix 4G earn high marks from CNET at CES 2011.
Judging by the other pictures obtained by MobileGearz, this “new” Droid Bionic may be much like the old, as it looks to still have an 8-megapixel camera with HD video capture, as well as the latest version of Motoblur.
Benchmarks surfaced in late May indicating Motorola has opted to use Texas Instruments for the processor, shelving the NVIDIA Tegra 2 that was initially announced. According to various reports, the scores match up nicely with a dual-core TI OMAP 4430 or OMAP 4440 chipset.
The screen size looks to be getting a bump as well as late-breaking images show a 4.5-inch qHD display, a touch bigger than the 4.3-inch screen from CES.
Sadly, there’s still no word on a launch date for the Droid Bionic.
