Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a note with details on what to expect in the forthcoming iPhone 5. Juicy features include Apple’s A5 processor and a much-improved 8-megapixel rear camera.
According to AppleInsider, Kuo’s note says the A5 processor will match the performance of the one currently found in Apple’s iPad 2, though no mention of the RAM quantity was made.
“He has also been told that Apple will switch to a Qualcomm baseband for both GSM and CDMA models, along with an improved antenna design.”
Echoing other rumors that production on the iPhone 5 has been pushed back, Kuo writes that trial production will begin in August, making a release date sometime in October or November likely.
“Kuo’s report also presumes that Apple will unveil its fifth-generation iPhone at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, scheduled for June 6 through 10 in San Francisco. However, other reports have indicated that Apple does not plan to introduce any new hardware at this year’s event, choosing instead to focus on iOS 5 and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion software.”
Kuo has a pretty good track record for rumors, accurately predicting several iPad 2 specs. Unmentioned in Kuo’s report is the oft-rumored NFC capabilities, a feature that could turn the iPhone into an e-wallet. What’s on your short list for iPhone 5 features? Let me know in the comments!
