LG has officially detailed the specs for its G Flex curved smartphone.

After many rumours and leaks, the official news came via the Korean Newswire website, although the release seems to have been later removed from that site. Both The Verge and Engadget reported on the release, with Engadget having a Google Translation of the original press release. CNET Australia has also viewed a cached version of the press release.
The spec rundown shows that the G Flex will feature the same quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 as the LG G2, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera and a 3500mAh battery.
The curved screen will be six inches in size with a 720p resolution. The G-Flex will be 8.7 millimetres at its thickest point and 7.9 at its thinnest. The handset will weigh 177 grams.
In terms of features, LG says the phone will be able to do split screen multi-tasking, and you’ll be able to access certain apps from the lock screen by using special gestures. You’ll also see different animations depending on the part of the screen you unlock from.
LG also claims that the G Flex will have a special “self-healing” coating on the rear that will cause small scratches to disappear “within minutes” — the release specifically mentions the X-Men character Wolverine when describing this.
The G Flex will go toe-to-toe with Samsung’s Galaxy Round curved smartphone — at least it will in Korea. The release stated that the Flex will be available in its home country next month, but there’s no word on launch plans in any other markets.
