Leaked HTC One 2 ‘Mini’ promises a smaller, but still powerful phone

A list of purported hardware details for the upcoming HTC M8 Mini have found their way online, thanks to omnipresent source evleaks. Should the specifications prove accurate, though, the “Mini” experience won’t exactly be small.

According to the tipster, the handset will run Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC’s Sense 6 UI; both are expected in the flagship version of the handset as well. The Mini also should have a Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB, 16GB internal storage, and microSD expansion. And like the M8 (or the HTC One 2, if you will), it may use on-screen navigation instead of physical buttons.

For a display, we may see a 4.5-inch screen with 720p resolution. If true, that would make the display larger than that of the HTC One Mini and nearly the same size as the screen on the original HTC One.

It’s difficult to say for certain what we might get out of the camera situation; evleaks says a 13-megapixel shooter, but HTC has employed Ultrapixels since 2013. The HTC One Mini, for its part, housed a 4 Ultrapixel rear camera.

Given that the hardware puts this device in line with smartphones like the Motorola G, I’d hope for a similar price point. And considering that HTC wants to add more mid-tier and affordable phones across its portfolio, that just may happen.
