Apple has gone live with the iOS 7 update and it should now be available via iTunes and direct download to iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch.

The new update is a major overhaul of the iOS system, featuring a new flat design style and many deep enhancements. All built-in apps have been redesigned to match the new style.

Some enhancements that all users will appreciate include app level controls over mobile data usage and the new Control Centre, which lets you swipe up from the bottom of your screen to get quick access to connectivity options, brightness controls, music and more.

It is likely downloads will be slow as the initial rush of users all try to grab the update at once.

Don’t forget that many apps require an update before you perform the iOS 7 upgrade. Remember: first your apps, then iOS 7.
