Images of alleged Optimus G2 leak a month before LG launch

Less than a month before the presumed unveiling of LG’s next flagship Android smartphone, we may be getting a better look at what some expect to be called the Optimus G2.

Engadget has posted several leaked images of an alleged LG handset that could be the successor to last year’s Optimus G, and a video of the device has appeared on the YouTube channel 4Leakz. The handset in both is believed to be the Optimus G2, which many observers expect LG to unveil during a press event in New York on August 7.

LG sent out invitations last month to the mysterious event a day after revealing that successor to the Optimus G will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800. The South Korean electronics giant further whet our appetite this weekend with the release of a promotional video that offered no visuals and scant details on the phone itself include not-so-subtle hints that we can expect to be introduced to a G2 at the event.

Along with a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, the new handset is expected to run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and sport a 13-megapixel camera and 2GB of RAM.
