Not content with reportedly making a quad-core smart phone, HTC is now beavering away on a quad-core tablet. (Though it looks no different to any other tablet, hence this picture of Audi-loving no-nonsense copper Gene Hunt.)
HTC supremo Peter Chou revealed the tablet existed recently, and now there’s a full spec list to chew on, Pocketnow reports. Let’s just say you shouldn’t order a tablet till you’ve had a gander.
Obviously of most interest is the processor, and word is this thing’ll have the same Nvidia AP30 Tegra 3 as the HTC Edge. (In the same way the iPhone 4S packs the same A5 processor as the iPad 2.) The screen is a tiny bit bigger than the iPad 2’s, at 10.1 inches, with a higher resolution of 1,280×768 pixels.
RAM is a healthy 1GB, with 16GB internal storage along with a microSD card slot. As well as the usual Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, word is the Quattro will have Beats by Dre processing inside, adding some hefty bass to your tunes, just like the Sensation XE and XL. (So it’ll match those rather fetching Executive cans we brought you news of the other day.)
Despite all this power, we’re looking at something less than 9mm thick. But according to these specs, the rear camera is a paltry 2 megapixels (though with Full HD video) while the front is a 720p 1.3-megapixel job. We’re sure that can’t be right, but stranger things have happened.
Also expected are the HTC Watch movie service and the Scribe stylus, with some cool new features.
It sounds like an early 2012 release is likely, so this is one to add to your Mobile World Congress ‘things to look out for’ list. It’s already looking quite full.
