HTC prepping Sensation Special Edition with Beats technology (exclusive)

If you thought HTC was only going to include Beats by Dr. Dre technology in its smartphones that are yet to come, then you’d mistaken.

In fact, it appears the manufacturer has decided to revise one of its recent and popular models, the Sensation. According to details obtained by CNET today, a coming special edition of the phone will feature not only better audio, but also a faster CPU, more internal storage, and a higher-capacity battery.

As one might expect, the Sensation Special Edition comes with a fancy set of headphones that will appeal to music lovers everywhere. Featuring a remote control for easy music selection, they should definitely complement the “fine-tuned” internal audio experience.

The processor speed is listed as a Qualcomm 8260 1.5GHz processor, up from the dual-core 1.2GHz in the current iteration. Not that it matters much when it comes to enjoying music, but it’s hard to imagine anyone complaining about a faster chipset. Internal storage gets quadrupled to 4GB, and battery life gets a punch up, going from 1,520mAH to a more respectable 1,730mAh.

Considering the slide deck shows a price of £520 ($847 U.S.), it’s safe to assume that HTC is ready to debut the phone in short order. If that price seems high, consider that a typical pair of Beats by Dr. Dre in-ear headphones start at $119 a pair.

With IFA under way this week and HTC holding various events around the world, I’d look for the company to make an official announcement in the next few days.
