The HTC One X has been easily one of the most impressive phones at Mobile World Congress so far, and it’s heading this way soon, courtesy of Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange and online retailers including Phones4U. Excellent.
Retailer mobilephonesdirect.co.uk is offering the One X on T-Mobile and Vodafone for £31 per month, or pay as you go for £470 — not bad at all, considering the phone packs a monster 4.7-inch Super LCD, 8-megapixel camera and quad-core processor. Oh, and Android Ice Cream Sandwich to boot.
You can register your interest with Phones4U and Vodafone, though Orange apparently featured the phone early then yanked it from the site. We’re still waiting for it to go up, but Orange has punted out a statement confirming it will be selling the new super-phone.
HTC said the mobile will hit the UK around April, and we’re hearing the same from networks. Orange confirmed the One X and its sister phone the One S will be available from Q2 (ie April to June), though the others are keeping schtum. mobilephonesdirect has it listed as 5 April, but that could well be just an educated guess.
Some may be put off by the 4.7-inch screen size, but let’s be honest, we’ve all seen bigger. And this is an absolute beast of a phone. Despite its size it still feels light, thanks to the plastic casing, as opposed to the metal most phone makers favour.
Beats Audio comes as standard, and you’ll get a free 25GB of Dropbox storage for two years. The only problem I see is it could be harsh on its battery, with that huge screen and quad-core processor. But if that’s the biggest problem, I’d say that’s a pretty good sign.
