Holy potjandorie! The HTC Desire may be getting an update to Android 2.2 Froyo starting tomorrow, according to a tweet by Dutch HTC exec Mark Moons.
According to our local little Dutch boy, Car Tech and podcast producer Drew Stearne, this translates as, “We’re starting from tomorrow with upgrades to Android 2.2 for the Desire, later more devices.”
Keep in mind that some HTC Hero owners are still waiting for an update, ages after it was formally announced, and take this with a pinch of salt. But if it happens, it means the Desire will get the latest version of Android while Heroes are still being updated to the previous version, Android 2.1.
If an update is forthcoming, it’s likely to come to unlocked Desires that were bought SIM-free, since the networks have to test the update before it goes out to their branded phones — hence the delays with the update to the Hero.
We love the Desire, and we just might marry it if it gets a quick update to Android 2.2. We’re counting on you to let us know in the comments if you get an update, and what network you’re on.
