Just two weeks after it added the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to its lineup, AT&T announced today that it would pick up another Sony Ericsson smartphone, the Vivaz.
First announced earlier this year just before Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, the Symbian (Series 60, fifth edition) smartphone focuses on multimedia with a slight nod to business users.
Features include an 8.1-megapixel camera with video recording, a music player, Assisted GPS, a speakerphone, messaging and e-mail, PC syncing, USB mass storage, stereo Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, TV-out connection, a personal organizer, and (thankfully) a microSD card slot. What’s more, the quad-band (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) Vivaz will support AT&T’s 3G network.
On the outside it has slim, candy-bar design with tapered ends and a rear face that resembles as standalone camera. Sony Ericsson introduced the device with four color choices (cosmic black, moon silver, galaxy blue, and Venus ruby), but AT&T will offer only galaxy blue and, for a limited time, Venus ruby. Its most prominent feature is a 3.2-inch touch screen that supports 16.7 million colors and 360×640 pixels. Unlike its Vivaz Pro, cousin, the Vivaz does not offer a physical keyboard.
The Vivaz will sell for $79.99 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
