The HTC Pyramid is set to be the manufacturer’s next top-tier smart phone, with new spy shots showing off its monolithic screen, and shedding light on some of its historic specifications.
XDA Developers has excavated the photographs, sent in by an anonymous archaeologist tipster. They show that the Pyramid will run Android Gingerbread 2.3.2, with version 3.0 of HTC’s Sense UI sitting on top. Inside there’ll be a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 768MB of memory.
The display will be a 4.3-inch qHD screen, which means a resolution of 960×540 pixels. The specs also show an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera, along with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity.
The Pyramid was first rumoured in early February, before HTC’s Mobile World Congress press event — where, as it turned out, the handset was not formally unveiled. Back then, it was being tipped for a 4.3-inch display and dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, backing up the latest information.
In early February, the Pyramid was slated for a May release, but it still hasn’t been announced by HTC, so that date could be pushed back as it gets its current crop of Android smart phones on to shop shelves.
XDA Developers’ spy shots aren’t the first time the Pyramid has been pictured, either. Earlier in March, a Chinese website published renders of the phone, confirming that 4.3-inch screen and 1.2GHz processor, as well as the 8-megapixel camera and 768MB of RAM. The specs are solidifying, in other words.
Will there be any surprises left for HTC to spring when it does announce the Pyramid? There’s been no speculation about 3D being part of the mix as yet, nor do we know what kind of content/entertainment services will be preloaded on the device. So watch this space.
