The next generation of Motorola Mobility’s low-cost Moto G smartphone may go on sale as soon as September 10.
GSM Arena, a tech news and reviews site, reported Monday that a new 5-inch version of the budget phone is expected, following up the 4.5-inch Moto G and Moto G 4G LTE. The information came from a retailer, GSM Arena said, adding that some retailers may be getting the new phone as soon as late August but won’t be allowed to sell it until September.
Moto G is the low-cost brother to the Moto X. Both phone lineups will soon be under the control of Lenovo, which is in the process of purchasing Motorola Mobility from Google for $2.9 billion.
The Moto G went on sale in the US in November and currently sells for $100 with Verizon Cricket, and Boost Mobile, and $150 with Republic Wireless. The 4G LTE version goes for $100 with US Cellular.
A Motorola representative didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
