Motorola Xoom 2 rumored to offer 64GB storage, 4G LTE support

New details for the Motorola Xoom 2 have surfaced recently, and as one would hope and expect, it will be faster and more powerful.

According to information obtained by Droid Life, the Motorola tablet will come in two storage options, 32GB and 64GB. The first-gen Xoom topped out at 32GB. What’s more, the device is also expected to come with built-in support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

It was also previously reported that the Xoom 2 will be thinner (9mm vs. 12mm) and feature a faster 1.2GHz dual-core processor, with the ability to record 1080p video. For all the great features that launched with the original Xoom, it was saddledwith a hefty design and cost, so perhaps 4G LTE support and a lighter, thinner form factor will help Motorola the second time around.

That said, if there’s one aspect that gives me pause, it would be the price point. The first model launched with a high price tag, and I fear Verizon will resort to its practice of ratcheting up the cost, largely due to its 4G support. Thus far, the carrier has routinely priced 4G LTE phones $50 to $100 higher than those with 3G-only support.

In a related note, we now have model numbers to go along with rumored product names for the Xoom 2 and the smaller Media Edition. As we near an eventual announcement, we can look for new details on the Pasteur/MZ617 Xoom 2 and the Fleming/MZ609 Xoom 2 Media Edition in the days and weeks to come.
