Motorola has revealed the new Moto E , a 4.3-inch Android smartphone that’s even cheaper than the phenomenally successful Moto G , going on sale for just $130 in the US and £90 in the UK. It’ll be even cheaper on UK network O2, which will sell you one for £80 on pay as you go.

Encased in tough Gorilla Glass and interchangeable multicoloured covers, the new Moto mobile phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat. A 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor is backed by 1GB of RAM, with an Adreno 302 400MHz single-core graphics chip.

Motorola has not yet announced pricing for the rest of the world, apart from India, where it will cost 6,999 rupees ($117, £69, AU$125).

The Moto E goes on sale today in the US and on 19 May in the UK. Australian price and availability details have not yet been revealed.

The phone maker also announced a new version of the Moto G this morning with a beefed-up spec and a slightly higher price. The new Moto G incorporates 4G LTE and expandable storage, and will set you back $219 or £149. Again, we’re waiting for Australian details.

The Moto E has a screen resolution of 960×540 pixels for a density of 256ppi, which is lower than the Moto G’s 326ppi. It also has a 5-megapixel camera on board. The Moto E packs a 1,980mAh battery and 4GB of storage for your music, movies and photos. To find out more, check out this taster video from Motorola:
