Motorola Motoluxe motors to the UK in late February

The Motorola Motoluxe will be moseying on over to the UK later this month, giving those hunting for a mid-range smart phone reason to look interested.

Meanwhile Amazon will be flogging it SIM-free from 22 March, priced at £250.

We haven’t had the opportunity to give the Motoluxe the full review treatment yet, but comparing the specs with the price, this could well be a mobile worth investigating.

You’ll get a 4-inch touchscreen, an 8-megapixel camera around the back, while Android 2.3 Gingerbread purrs beneath the bonnet. That’s not the very latest version of Android (that honour belongs to version 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich), but you’ll still have access to the Android Market, as well as a healthy dose of homescreen widgets.

The design is a little quirky — in the pictures above you’ll spy a light in the bottom-left that lights up when you’ve missed a call, or have a text or email to read. Neat.

The Motoluxe will arrive packing Motorola’s MotoSwitch interface, as well as a Social Graph that populates your homescreen with the friends you talk to the most, inflating a buddy’s icon the more you communicate with them.

MusicNow and Smart Gallery are also set to be pre-loaded — they’re music and photo apps respectively. Here’s hoping the Motorola-installed apps prove useful, and don’t just make us wish the phone was running vanilla Android.

Stay tuned for the full review, and in the meantime tell us whether you’re likely to throw down your cash for this light-up mobile. You can reach us in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.
