Republic Wireless announced that it is offering the entry-level Motorola Moto E 4G LTE smartphone for $129 without a contract. It has also reduced the price of the first-gen Moto G , which was released in 2013, from $149 to $99.
The carrier is known for its cost-conscious pricing structure, with monthly plans ranging from $5 to $55 depending on a user’s data preference. It uses Wi-Fi as a default, but switches to Sprint’s network when the former is unavailable. With the addition of the Moto E, the company now stocks all three Motorola Moto variants (it already sells the Moto X for $299).
As for the device, the Moto E features the recent Google Android mobile operating system, Lollipop 5.1, a 4.5-inch display, and a 5-megapixel camera. Though its photo quality and 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor failed to impress CNET reviewer Nate Ralph , the phone’s ultra-low price tag makes it a worthy option for those on a budget.
