Verizon is also using the update to implement a few carrier-specific changes to the Motorola duo. Gone are the Verizon Video app and Color app, making room for a new Video calling portal and Accessories app. What’s more, the Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr Maxx HD also get the full suite of Amazon apps (Kindle, Amazon MP3, IMDb, Audible, and Zappos), introduced in the HTC Droid DNA.

Verizon says that the Android 4.1 update will begin rolling out in phases next week and will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to download and install.

Impatient users can manually check for the 276MB update by navigating their Motorola handset to Menu > Settings > About phone > System updates > Download. A dedicated support page outlines the benefits and procedures for the update.

The pair of Motorola smartphones get smarter and more intuitive with the 4.1 update.
