Australians will finally be able to get their hands on the Moto X when it lands later this month.

The flagship handset from Motorola will be available in Australia in late March for AU$549. Though it might seem like we are lagging behind the global release cycle, the UK, France and Germany only had the handset made available in their local markets on 1 February this year.
The Moto X was the first major phone released by Motorola Mobility following the company’s acquisition by Google. Motorola Mobility has since been sold to Lenovo for a deal totalling US$2.9 billion.
In terms of specifications, the handset has a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, a 4.7-inch AMOLED 720p screen, and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat. As well as the regular Android functionality, the Moto X also boasts always-on Google Now voice control that responds to the regular “OK Google Now” command.
In Australia, there is no word yet on whether buyers will be able to design their own handsets with custom finishes such as wood panels and coloured accents. This feature is available for buyers in North America through the Moto Maker site.
At launch in Australia, the Moto X will be available in black and white. According to Motorola, the phone will only be available for purchase through telco retailers, not online through the company’s website. Read the full review of the Moto X here.
