Moto G 16GB £140, Lumia 620 £115 at Phones 4U on Friday

Phones 4U is getting into the festive spirit with some cracking deals on reasonably priced mobiles, with the hotter-than-a-microwaved-mince-pie Moto G the pick of the bunch. The ‘Black Friday’ deals aren’t yet live, and run from 29 November until 2 December.

Motorola’s sensational new blower is £140 for the larger 16GB version in the deal, a saving of some £20 on the RRP.

That’s a tenner more than Tesco Mobile was offering it for, although that version is currently out of stock at the megamarket. Tesco does have the wee 8GB version for a mere £99 at the moment, which is a bargain any way you slice it, but may prove somewhat limiting as you can’t expand it.

Also up for grabs on Friday are the excellent Nokia Lumia 620 for a minuscule £115, and a bevy of phones from last year: the slinky Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini for £140, the funky HTC 8S for £110, the low-res Sony Xperia Miro for £90 and the terrible Samsung Galaxy Y for £40.

Personally, I’d go for the Moto G if you’re after an Android and either the Lumia 620 or HTC 8S if you want a splash of colour from both the case and the Windows Phone software. The Nokia has the edge in pre-installed apps, but all are really well built, and should last at least until next Christmas.

Here’s Andy enthusing over the Moto G, like a man whose job recommending good-value phones has just got a whole lot easier:

Update: A previous version of this story stated that Phones 4U’s deals were only available on Friday 29 November. Phones 4U informs me that is not the case; the deals run over the weekend until the end of the day on Monday 2 December, except the Sony Xperia Miro, which is available for the above price until 6 December.
