More Nexus 5 photos in FCC docs show off its look

The picture gets somewhat clearer for the rumored Nexus 5 smartphone as newly discovered FCC documents provide a glimpse at a fully assembled device that could very well be the next Nexus. These echo earlier findings about the LG Nexus 4 successor.

First spotted by PhoneScoop, the FCC filing shows a variant of Verizon’s LG G2 smartphone. Just as the Nexus 4 was a modified version of the LG Optimus G, so appears to be the case for the LG G2 and the so-called Nexus 5.

The photos make the phone appear to be covered in a black material with a matte, soft finish, and a stylized camera lens on the upper left.

The hardware details for the next-gen Nexus smartphone are not yet clear; the LG G2 employs a quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, a 5.2-inch 1080p HD display, and a 13-megapixel rear camera.

A previous FCC filing tipped the potential Nexus 5 with support for Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint LTE bands. Also noteworthy was the 4.96-inch display, which was confirmed in the new findings. We might also expect dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and a 2,300mAh battery.

This smartphone will presumably make its debut within the next few weeks and run Android 4.4 KitKat.
