Mophie’s new slim external batteries expand Powerstation line

Mophie may be known for its smartphone battery cases, but it’s now making a big push into external battery chargers with an expanded line of slim Powerstation products.

Available in multiple battery sizes (1X, 2X, 3X, 5X, 8X) the new chargers start at $40 and sport a premium aluminum finish. They also interface with the company’s mobile power-management app, Mophie Power.

The larger 5X and 8X (15,000mAh) models are Bluetooth-enabled and Mophie says the Mophie Power app allows users to simultaneously monitor and manage the battery life of their smartphone and Bluetooth-enabled Powerstation units. Custom notifications can be created to alert when batteries are low or when fully charged and the app tracks how much time remains until your devices are powered up to 100 percent.

I got an early peek at the new batteries several weeks ago and they certainly look sleek. That said, there are currently several other competitors on the market that offer attractive external battery solutions including myCharge and Phonesuit.

The new Mophie Powerstation line is currently available at mophie.com, Apple Store and Verizon locations starting at $40. No word yet on UK or Australian pricing but we’ll update this post when we get it.
