Microsoft will create the ‘next big thing’, outgoing CEO Steve Ballmer has said, in a reportedly emotional farewell speech to employees.
The eccentric boss, known for his eccentric style and fondness for jumpers, was speaking at his last ever company meeting as chief, the Verge reports, citing sources ‘familiar with the meeting’.
The impassioned delivery apparently saw Ballmer say that Microsoft “will deliver the next big thing”, and that “we will change the world again.”
Never one to skimp on the theatrics, Ballmer reportedly played Michael Jackson’s ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’‘ during the speech, jumping and screaming “The sound of Microsoft!”
Thrilling stuff! Ballmer reportedly told the assembled Microsoft crowd, “You work for the greatest company in the world, soak it in”, also discussing the acquisition of Nokia, which is expected to be completed early next year.
Thanking everyone, Ballmer concluded his delivery by playing Dirty Dancing hit ‘I’ve had the time of my life‘, running and jumping again, shouting “I’ve had the time of my life!”
Microsoft has just announced two sequels to its Surface tablets, and is rumoured to be cooking up a miniature tablet. On the gaming front, the company’s new new Xbox One will make its debut in November.
