The Microsoft Surface Pro lands in Britain next week, costing £720. The Windows 8 tablet is finally on sale from next Thursday, 23 May.
That’s Microsoft’s price for the 64GB version. A model with a roomier 128GB memory will set you back around £800.
The Surface Pro is Microsoft’s tablet showing off Windows 8 — not to be confused with the Microsoft Surface, which runs a stripped-down version of Windows 8 called Windows 8 RT.
The Surface Pro is roughly twice the price of the Surface, which can only run apps downloaded from Microsoft’s app store. The extra money for the Pro gives you full-fat Windows 8 just like on your laptop or computer, so you can install your own programs.
Accessories for the Surface include different types of cover that attach to the tablet to form a keyboard. The Touch Cover £100, a pressure-sensitive flexible keyboard. The Type Cover is a proper keyboard and costs £130.
